Found this insanity on a far left website... More loons who think the Towers were brought down by 'controlled implosions.'

we need to demand more of the person representing this country

Come up with a system that's better and I'm pretty sure we'll all fall in line. I always thought a popular vote AFTER they serve as to whether we shoot them or let them retire

You know I am not in love with Bush nor was I crazy about Bill, but once they are voted into office they become MY President of MY United States. Good or bad, I stand behind them and my government and my country.....

That's how I look at it Rose. I make sure and vote in the Primaries cause few of my choices ever become the nomination, but at least I know I gave the person a chance and didn't just fall into the "popular" pick. Then when It's all said & done I fall in with whoever they elect.

Case in point...I supported Jimmy Carter throughout his run. In retrospect THE worst President of my lifetime & my lifetime includes Nixon & Johnson-Kennedy (good man tho) I have to say I didn't vote for Reagan until re-election time. The man surprised me and I consider him THE best President of my lifetime. Bush #1 didn't screw up too much and Bill was just an embarassment riding the coattails of the digital revolution. This Bush I'll bash(or not) when his jobs done.

Wars are unpopular. It's a no-win for a President...look at history.
I would ask this......How many successful terrorists attacks have taken place on American soil SINCE 911?

Seems we are the same age - with mostly the same views. I was thinking the other day that we have had our "moment in the sun" with Reagan, and that our generation will only get Bushes and those playing in them for the rest of our life.

It's not a matter of a better system...it's a matter of everyone standing up and demanding it. They are suppose to be working for us...not against us. But they are so comfortable with the apathy in this country they know that won't happen and can literally get away with murder.

2 things....
1. Apathy is not your only problem. You'll never get "everyone" because not "everyone" shares your views.
2. Once elected there's very little incentive to appease the detractors. In other words they can just say "piss off" and there's not much that can be done.

I like my option better

I always thought a popular vote AFTER they serve as to whether we shoot them or let them retire

It's got more incentive.......

oh & Dr. Guy....I'm always reminded of the theme song to All in the Family in connection with Reagan.

That one's funny, but (at the risk of a little shameless self promotion), I like mine better. ;~D

Whatever your political persuasion, how can anyone find humor in an event that cost so many people their lives? Some things you do not joke about unless you are totally insensitive to the loss experienced by so many.

You don't read my blog much, do you. ;~D

No I don't, did not even know you had one, and it would be silly on your part to assume that most people looking at your post here, (and the misplaced humor it puts forth), would view it in context of something you wrote in a blog a some point.

I didn't assume anything, I merely posted it. Actually it was the satire I posted on the 5th Anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 9/11/01. Think whatever you want of it, and of me for making it.

We can't (and shouldn't) cry forever.

Ah, but that would only be your opinion.

There were several thousnd people who lost the lives, their families I would believe are of a different opinion. There is nothing wrong in remembering and showing emotions. I will say that in our society yesterdays news usually winds up in the bottom of the bird cage and used as fish wrap.

Of course this is just my opinion.

I do not know you and therefore have no opinion of you one way or another. My crit is about your choice of subject matter for humor. I agree that we can not cry forever. However, the sadness will never go away. Tell me, if you had lost a child on that horrible day, would you still be using it as a subject for humor? Respect, my friend, respect.

You are correct, Dr, Guy. Formerly Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio. Supposedly alien ships and bodies found since the 1940s were kept in an underground complex, dubbed "hanger 18".

However, true UFOlogists now believe that the government moved the alien ships/bodies out to area 51.

I just watched this on The History Channel 2 days ago.....

I watched this too. I live in Fairborn, (the true location of Wright Patt, not Dayton) and work at Wright Patt. "Hangar 18" is actually building 18A. The underground labyrinth lying below building 18A is the "hangar". And here's something interesting. There are "supposedly" cryogenic chambers throughout the underground portion housing aliens or whatever. I personally don't believe all this stuff, but at least weekly there are truckloads of cryogenic materials (liquid nitrogen, etc.) delivered to the back of building 23, which is adjacent to building 18A. I don't believe in aliens, but maybe we're constructing some sort of mutant super soldier like the Tyrant in Resident Evil... how cool would that be, huh? (I obviously don't believe that either.)

The only "Alien" technology we're hiding at Wright Patt, or at Area 51, is foreign nations technology. And some of our own.

Seeing as that was one of the popular shows in my time - I guess it is a riot that we would be using that theme song to talk about our past. Yea, I am getting old.

Yea, yea yea! SO my GF of the time constantly reminded me (She went to Wright State - I went to UD).

It has nothing to do with respect or disrespect. We don't tell "Space Shuttle Columbia" jokes, war jokes or other examples of "ambulance humor" out of disrespect to those who lost their lives (or their loved ones). I didn't satire my own near death experience out of disrespect to myself either.

When you have sat laughing with a person whose rope burns are still fresh from a suicide attempt, maybe then you'll be able to tell me when it's time to laugh and when it isn't. ;~D

ParaTed2k myself along with all the others here, including yourself, are expressing our opinions. Yes, our opinions are formed out of our life experiences and as such make them personal. Thank goodness though they still remain just our opinions. That's what makes all of us who we are.

You tell us about your experiences, I could tell you about 30yrs being in the military and how it has influenced my opinions. I hope you understand what I am saying. You are not wrong nor is anyone else for having feelings or opinions.

Yes, on occasion we all need to be reminded of that. Sometimes it does come down to respecting others.

Just one persons opinion here, I might add. Have a good day.
