Found this insanity on a far left website... More loons who think the Towers were brought down by 'controlled implosions.'

When you have sat laughing with a person whose rope burns are still fresh from a suicide attempt, maybe then you'll be able to tell me when it's time to laugh and when it isn't. ;~D

That's funny ? Obviously not much more to talk about from my point of view. Have a great day!

You missed his point. I have highlighted it for you. Are you now going to sit in judgement over those who have experienced the crises? I think you probably just mis-read his response.

And I will leave you with this last thought. 9-11, and those whose lives were sacraficed, deeply affected all of us, and changed all of our lives. However, how it changes our lives will determine if the hijackers won or if we did. If we let them dictate to us what we can and cannot laugh at, or do or respect, they have won. We win if we mourn our departed, and go back to living our lives the way WE see fit.

I wont let the bastards win and dictate my life.

I see no correlation to the subject matter a hand as the issue is not one of laughter but appropriate subject matter for jokes.

I am not "sitting in judgement" over anyone. Just as he has the right to post what he will, I have the right to state my feelings about it. I have not said the post should be removed. I have said that I find the humor misplaced and in my opinion not a fit subject for jokes. My opinion only. I would defend his right to laugh at whatever he wants just as much as I defend my right to disagree with his choice of subject matter. As an American, you can make jokes about concentration camps in WW II if you so desire. Is it is good taste, or sensitive to those that have suffered? I think not and that was my point in the opinion that I offered. That has nothing to do with his right to post the joke in the first place.

Yea, yea yea! SO my GF of the time constantly reminded me (She went to Wright State - I went to UD).

my wife is a graduate of both... got her bachelors from Wright State, and her Masters from UD... I, however, am only in Fairborn because of the base. Been here 15 years now...

My opinion only.

For the record, that is all I saw your comments as. That is why I didn't say anything against you personally... You told me your opinion, I told you mine. No ambulance, no foul.

But you should have heard all the laughter that went on in my ambulance. The most fun was getting people with abdominal pain or mothers in labor laughing. ;~D

READ THE HIGHLIGHTED PART. You are sitting in judgement if you are telling that suicidal person what they can and cannot laugh at - especially when it concerns only their own actions.

Please point out to me where I told a suicidal person what they can and cannot laugh at. I have no idea what you are talking about. I asked, "That's funny?" as a retorical question as I find no humor in a suicide attempt. I did not tell anyone when they could and could not laugh.

I didn't say there was humor in a suicide attempt, I added the ":~D" at the end of that because it's kind of funny to think about a paramedic and a suicide attempt patient laughing all the way to the ER... which happened more than once.

I know, I understood. I can imagine you must go through extremely intense/strange situations. One never knows what people will laugh at or why they are really laughing. Often people will laugh just to keep from crying as the saying goes. My comment was to address the point that whether folks were laughing, crying or standing on theirs heads, I saw no humor and any real suicide attempt. Nor did I mean to imply that you did either. My point in saying that I had nothing more to say was that the thread was going in a direction that was no longer productive (in my opinion , nothing more, nothing less. I certainly did not want to be discussing suicide attempts.

Man talk about a subject matter spiralling out of control

As in most discussions, sometimes the talking goes on far after the listening has stopped.

I wouldn't say 'out of contol'....quite calm and sensible, really....as discussions should be....

People have all sorts of ways to deal with crises/grief/etc ....one of which is to make [what appears to many] odd choices for humour.

The 'unfortunate' part is that not everyone will share/appreciate the 'mirth' .... at which stage it's more appropriate to simply move on....and leave the 'jokes' for like-minded people.

Open forums such as this one attract such a diverse group you can be certain to upset someone, sometime with 'missplaced' joking...
