keep your friends close but your enemies closer

Gateway Pundit has revealed all the details. The name of the Sarah Palin E-mail hacker/lamer is David Kernell, and he is (not surprisingly), the son of a Tennessee Dem State Rep.

According to the article, a former Palin staffer stated that she used Yahoo Mail to communicate Govenor/Alaskan State Government business with others, off record

Yes, when a politician runs, the enemies come out of the wood work.  She may have, but right now, we only have proof that she did not (the posted account and its emails).  And a person with an axe to grind's word that she did.  As proof is required for any accusation, this one at this time appears to be simply sour grapes.

Of course that is the 'official' word...

And the proof from the hacked account.  Actually, I have not heard Palin say she never did, only that her hacked account had no indication that it was used for anything but private business.

I think it is wierd to have a debate about if public information was transmitted via private email so that it remained off the record.

How is this any different from two politicians sitting down over a couple of glasses of wine and a surf and turf to discuss something purely business related?

Besides, if the state had the IT infrastructure like they should have, she shouldn't have been able to access a 'private/public' (read:yahoo) email account from the internal private network. If she could, they should have been archiving that traffic as well.

I really don't care if she was telling aunt Suzy about the new high heels she purchased or if she was doing dirty deeds done dirt cheap via her Yahoo acount. All politicians do the same things. Some of them just call the hitmen on their disposable cell phones

Yes, when a politician runs, the enemies come out of the wood work.

Really?  So why then is it not a valid argument when proponents of Barack Obama say the accusations of links to terrorists are just smear tactics and fear mongering by his enemies? While it may be sour grapes on the part of the former staffer, that Palin inappropriately/irressponsibly used Yahho Mail for Alaskan Governemt business, the Troopergate report is more than merely suggestive that she not only acted irresponsibly as Aslaskan Governor, but also illegally and abused her powers.

Now if the panel had been 10 to 4 Democrat - Republican I would concede the findings may have been biased... but it wasn't.  The panel  consisted of 10 Republicans and 4 Democrats, and thus it's unlikely to have been 'enemies coming out of the woodwork'  And just because you/we the public have not seen evidence of official gov't business in the hacked Yahoo emails doesn't mean it doesn't exist.... just as enemies CAN come out of the woodwork so CAN friends...in damage control to ensure the damaging info does not come under public scrutiny.

It's said that where there's smoke there's fire... right now Sarah Palin needs a fireman's breathing apparatus and his heat/fire resistant suit.

She may have, but right now, we only have proof that she did not

That makes about as much sense as saying 'she might not have but right now we only have proof she did'.

Sorry Dr G, I just couldn't resist that one!  I s'poses that I be missin' tha 'Sister' n' a life o' piracy on tha 'igh seas too much.

There ya go, further evidence to suggest there are serious question marks hanging over Palin's integrity and honesty.... why would public records of her time as Wasilla mayor suddenly disappear since her profile was lifted to McCain's running mate... possible future VP??? Something fishy about that... in fact, too many fishy incidences for the American voting public to ignore

And somehow there are no such 'serious question marks' hanging over BO's integrity & honesty, such as the 'lost years', ACORN, etc.  Nothing there for you to worry about American voting public, you can ignore all that.  And if you don't, you're racists pigs.

Oh well, what a fool believes he sees.

Actually you are just setting the bar impossibly high.  There is no proof she did.  There is proof she did not.  But you are sauying that "proof be damned" as long as there are allegations.

Now let's see if we can float the boat.  If nothing else, I think we have a few more crew members that might want to sail that ole' tub on a raiding party to stardock.  We sure aint getting nuttin done in politics.

The bar impossibly High???  I tired of the political arguing in this (and other threads) a while back now - it's one thing to discuss and debate, but another when opinions become angered, etc - so I decided just to have a bit of fun instead.

While I am interested in the political goings on in the US - cos the outcome will have affects here in Oz - I'm not going to get into any heavy debates (that sometimes can get ugly, and often do) over them.  Nope, that's not for me... I'd rather have me some tongue in cheek fun than get into a heated argument.

Now let's see if we can float the boat. If nothing else, I think we have a few more crew members that might want to sail that ole' tub on a raiding party to stardock. We sure aint getting nuttin done in politics.

Aye, ye be right thar... this 'ere guverment talk be gittin' us nowhars... so I reckuns us gits tha 'Sister off them thar quarantine fellers, assemble us a crew n' set sail fer Stardock.

She could have fired that guy for wearing brown socks on a Thursday, or for no reason at all, and been perfectly legal in doing so because it's an APPOINTED post, meaning she gets to pick the man for the job...and fire him at will.

While we have different employment laws here in Oz (unfair dismissal, etc), I was not specifically referring to Palin's handing of the State Trooper accused of harrassment and tasering his own son.  I was more interested in and commenting on her allowing Todd Palin to use the Governors office and resources to conduct personal business (using taxpayers money for his own end) and the redirecting Federal funds (also taxpayers money) from the 'bridge to nowhere project' to other areas of her own choosing... those funds were not hers to spend and should have been returned to the Federal Government for re-appropriation.

Anyhow, enough of that now!  How is your health now?  I know how ill kidney stones can make you feel... and they can hurt like a son of a beetch as well, so here's hoping they're not giving you hell and that you're feeling much better now.

Can you give us an accounting of the taxpayer funds expended for 'his own end'?  That might be enlightening.

In dollars and cent, no I can not... the point is that the Governors office and its resources are funded by the taxpayer, and the inquiry into Palin's abuse of powers found that Todd Palin used the Governors office and resources to conduct personal business.

It can't be any clearer than that... but of course, there will be those who will still want to question/argue the point.  However, it's not a bandwagon I wish to be on... I've tired of the whole debate idea and I'm off to plant my tongue firmly in my cheek and have some fun at Palin and McCain's expense....

I did hear that if McCain & Palin fail in their bid for the White House, they are going to keep the team together and open a chain of burger joints called McPalins.... with the house specialty being a mooseburger with the lot: bacon, cheese, tomato and pickles, etc.  Apparently, this Whopper...  oops, can't call it that... um, monstrous burger will weigh in a 5lbs for just $6.95... and don't worry if you can't eat it all in one sitting, McPalins will provide novelty doggie bags made from moose skin so you can take the leftovers home. And the drinks!  Whoa, the drinks are gonna be something else... besides your regular coffees and cokes, there's gonna be a special slushee call Polar Ice, which will be mainly ice with yellow colouring to represent the yellow snow.  Oh, and don't worry about artificial colours or preservatives, everything will be 100% natural... apparently saffron will provide the wee yellow tint to the ice.

I can't wait fer 'em t' get started and expand downunder to Oz... cos I ain't never tasted moose meat... yeller snow, neither.

The news will come out eventually but Palin's house was not a result of Immaculate Erection.

They all do it but that doesn't make it right.

Last year a town planner in Concord , MA approved a plan to redesign an intersection so he would gain 1 parking spce in front of his house. The cost $ 750k.  The intersection worked better before the redo. Somehow a resident alwasy seems to make sure that parking space stays full and the owner never gets to use the space.

I was gonna make a comment about her encountering at least 5 'Immaculat... er, um ... but that'd be below the belt so I won't.

I love it when people like that get their come-uppance.   An overseer on the council where my dad worked got several yards of concrete and a council gang to put in a pretty long driveway on his property... at rate payers expense, but what he didn't count on was concrete without reinforcing that took about 4 - 5 days to go off properly/good enough to drive on.

It ended up costing him more than it was worth the cheat the system... naturally the concrete eventually ended up cracking badly without proper/any reinforcing, and he had to get in contractors with jackhammers to remove the old before they could put in the new driveway.

Plah. I'm going for an ultrasound of my kidneys in about 30 minutes, and will meet with the urologist on Thursday. Unfortunately, this stone may not be in a good position for lithotripsy, which will leave me the option of open surgery or doing nothing at all until it blocks a ureter and can (maybe) be grabbed and extracted that-a-way.

I'm eating enough narcotics to dope a horse and barely feeling the effects, so to answer your question...my health sucks and as more than a few people have noticed these past few weeks, my frustration with the situation has made my tongue sharper than usual and my (already limited) patience almost non-existant.

Sorry to hear that, LW... I had kidney stones a few years back and they gave me sheer hell for weeks, so I know what you're going through and hope the condition is resolved for you really soon.  And I know what you mean about the narcotics, I was on some pretty powerful drugs - Pethadine based, I think - and they did little to ease my distress, so I was like a bear with a sore head until the stones were gone... think they were treated with some kind of dissolving agent so they could be passed natually, and that, as I recall, hurt like a son of a bitch as well.  Mind you, though, I was glad to be rid of them and it beat the surgical option hands down... had one too many of those options over the years, and the only good part is the happy gas.  Even if they don't have to operate, ask for some anyway... it's very relaxing and I recommend it, if only for the giggles.

Anyhow, take care and I hope you're feeling better soon.

I'm patient, so I'll try again - precisely what part of the Governors office and which 'resources' did he use?  I don't need dollars & cents.

I wasn't looking over his shoulder... but I'll be sure to next time.

Never been in Governor Palin's office, neither, so I dunno what she gots stashed in there... but hey, with a bit of common sense and a little imagination, let's see what I can come up with... um, let's see: phones; fax machines; computers; internet; printers, ink and printing paper; postage stamps; the missus' secretaries and the waste basket.... oh, and let's not forget her taxpayer funded personal toilet.

If you want detailed information, I believe Bebi put up a link to the Republican led report in the 'Palin is a Cancer' thread.

Anyhow, gotta go.... wanna google McPalins to see when they're opening downunder.
