I watched it all via Facebook live.  What a difference it is to watch something without media commentary.  I even turned off the comments after awhile.  I watched it and was able to "think my own thoughts" about it, lol.

Was it just me or did Hillary seem seriously off her game?  Her entire persona came off as serious and out of sorts.  I watched her walk from the hallway out (once announced) and she went from frowning/serious to fake smile and waving.  Just. that. fast.  It made me think her entire public facade was exactly that, a facade.  I believe now more than ever that she would not have been able to handle the pressures of being president.  She doesn't handle losing very well, and it was just an election.

I know a lot of people won't agree but, I LOVED how Jesus' name was invoked.  I loved that people weren't ashamed to praise God and thank Him for our blessings.  Directly.  No smoke.  I found it so humbling and honest.  My hope is Trump rolls out of bed every single day of his service, and onto his knees.

Chuck was a wet blanket and I couldn't wait for him to shut his face.  Disgraceful.

Didn't necessarily find Trump's speech inspirational.  He said things I agree with it.  And, he said them in his style.  But, I think we may be spoiled with some pretty good social and political orators in our history, so it's a lot to live up too.  It didn't sound "historic."  It sounded good.  Just not historic.

Not channeling Rosie here (can't stand her) but, I know Trump says Baron isn't on the autism spectrum, but I wonder.  I have a son who is and Baron has a lot of similar traits.  (No one touched him, did you notice that?)  The siblings touched each other off and on, but no one touched Baron.  He also didn't smile.  (I've noticed he doesn't smile for photos.)  He came right out and sat down after being announced.  His sisters wanted to say something to him at first, you could tell, (stand up!!) lol, but they didn't.  Someone must have though because he stood back up.  Add to that his lack of eye contact with people and a few other little things.  I worry about that kid.  I think his mom is smart and right to keep him in school until the end of the year.  If he is on the spectrum, that change can be somewhat traumatic.  

Ivanka.  I really like her.  I'm excited to see her carve out a place in politics.

Of course after the event, the little commentary I did hear didn't filter it the way I did.  I think social media and live streaming without the talking heads might just be the wave of future news.  And I like it.

Will Trump be a good president?

I don't know.  But for the first time in 8 years I feel as if the adults are back in charge, America is correcting course and strength is in our future.

** I stand corrected.  I just saw footage of Baron smiling and waving.  So that observation may not be correct.

I watched most of it Tova, the most fun was the postmortal expressions of Debbie Wasserman Shultz and the Clinton's looking like they were at a funeral. I was kind of disappointed in the lock her up chant as I was hoping for more decorum, but considering the scorched earth campaign complete with bogus sexual misconduct allegations, I'm not surprised no one was happy to see her, or Pelosi, who was booed

I feel that Trump will do his best to restore our country to a more traditional America that we remember. One that is a friend to Israel, enforces laws, sees thru commitments, tells something resembling the truth to the American people, listens to the American people, and enacts laws that benefit all people, not just the wealthy elites who can afford to play golf and fist bump with Barack Obama while Americans are getting their heads chopped off in Libya. I am very happy and optimistic that Trump will do good things for our country. As for young Master Baron... I don't know. He seems to act like he would rather be anywhere but there when he makes an appearance, but I probably would have been a lot wilder than him when I was 10 years old

Watched none of it because I can't stand the idiots who 'cover' it, so not able to offer my impressions.  However, I will say I'm old enough to remember how W was treated at O's first inauguration.

Having now read his address, this completely encompasses why he won and gives real hope that things may change for the better:

“For too long, a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost. Washington flourished—but the people did not share in its wealth. Politicians prospered—but the jobs left, and the factories closed. The establishment protected itself but not the citizens of our country.”

For all his faults, and there are many, saying that, with that 'small group' sitting right behind him, evidences a commitment that most, even many of his supporters, weren't certain he had.

A lot of my friends watched as much as possible on CSPAN to skip the commentary....The parade last night was especially well covered by CSPAN.  We had children of friends marching in the Tupelo Mississippi Group so were happy they could be seen well on CSPAN.

I've chosen to live without cable TV (don't miss it in the least ) so C-SPAN wasn't an option.

Gotchya!  We are cutting the cable soon too.  Once I figure out what size antenna to get for the tv.  Just signed up for Slingtv but it seems a little clunky.  Still, we hate our cable!  So we're getting rid of it.  For future reference, CSPAN.org has all their video online.  I don't think it's live, but it might be.  

I sprung for SlingTV (buy a Roku, get Sling 'free' for 3 months).  Distinctly unimpressed.  Got it mainly to access ESPN but it is fraught with frequent drops in resolution and complete drops in signal with a 'Loading...' message suddenly appearing for minutes at a time despite being on the cable internet connection via wifi.  At this point, plan to cancel it once the 90 days are up.

As for OTA antennas, the amplified Mohu Leaf works great (I'm about 35 miles from the towers), although all digital antennas are subject to intermittent signal corruption (more due to faults in the signal and weather conditions than the receiving device itself, I think).  Takes a little time to find the 'right spot' for the antenna to pull in all the broadcast channels but once you do it works very well.

Obama and Clinton are no longer politically relevant. It's time to stop droning on and on about them.

They made stupid choices and paid the consequences. Let them fade away into oblivion where they belong.

The Republicans now control all three branches of the government, the buck stops with them. I can hardly wait to see who they scapegoat when things don't work out as planned or promised.

I don't believe his financial status determines one way or another if he has my best interests at heart.  His actions will determine his heart for the country.

I think it's important to watch the government, Democrat or Republican, because it tends toward tyranny when people get complacent. 

Trump is a man, with flaws.  Supporting the office of the president doesn't necessarily make one blind to those flaws.  Politics have not been, for me, a large issue.  I have found I can affect the most good and contribute efficiently locally at the community level.  As the nation gets more and more polarized though, the luxury of this type service will likely diminish and more focus will necessarily look toward Washington.

After reading the Boiling Frog post, ugh, the stark reality of all this rhetoric is tragic.

They have the opportunity to do what they perceive to be in the best interest of the country. 

I was 'naive enough' to think a second rate Harvard-educated 'Constitutional Scholar' about whom we knew virtually nothing might actually pay attention to the document on which he claimed to be an expert and which he took a solemn oath to defend.  Twice.

We'll see how naive we are about Trump.

In 2008, Obama came to my town to do his stump speech. I knew he was full of hot air from the start, and told a local reporter as much. My view wasn't printed (no surprise).

You seem to be somewhat alone in this belief. On both sides, everyone seems to agree that Trump is very, very different. Just to gauge how far out you are, I need to know if you believe that Trump was urinated on by Russian prostitutes. Anyone who believes that and other such absurd claims is totally unreachable.  I do know that Democrats have the most to lose in the next election and if they keep carrying on and throwing emotional tantrums they will get voted out again and will be on a glide path to Whigdom.
