keep your friends close but your enemies closer
Gone are the dayz
Published on April 27, 2017 By Anthony R In Politics

Some may say I need a psychiatrist, but I've always enjoyed politics and the topics involved. With that being said, wading into the sewage of political discourse these days is an exercise in madness. Gone are the days when such discourse could lead to anything remotely resembling a civilized exchange of ideas. We've ushered in a new era where most people who have such interest are more out to prove that they are right, and any person with any disagreement, or objection to any policy and idea they believe is either antisemitic, a sex maniac, stupid, bigoted, homophobic, or much worse. In such an environment where people are so dug in trying to prove they are right even when empirical evidence proves that they are wrong, it becomes an exercise in futility to attempt any conversion at all. It can be somewhat funny to see the bizarre reactions and silly name calling when the argument is lost, but that is only a temporary giggle and not a really a lasting enjoyment.

It's been 12 years since there was any decent political discussion here.  Was fun & educational while it lasted but all the people I enjoyed debating (and enjoyed watching debate) evaporated after W's re-election.

The ones I didn't enjoy debating left, too, though, so there's that.

If Ann Coulter doesn't have the right to make a speech then you don't have the right to peaceful protest.

Its fairly interesting to see how our views have changed over that time. I remember having some different views than I do today... its not that I changed my beliefs to a large degree, I just that I think some things and world events worked out poorly, and its fairly easy to do that kind of thing given how hindsight is always 20/20. So I can generally change my mind if I think a politician of either party shoveled a steaming load of horse crap on us. Most of George W Bush's administration  is one of those things that changed. At first I thought his ideas were good ones, especially with the wars, but as time passed, I came to believe that it was botched severely by bureaucrats who sat in air conditioned offices telling sweaty, dirty soldiers how to "send Afghan girls to school," become painters and electricians when they were actually trained as warriors, not Captain Americas seeking to win hearts and minds of people who hate our guts. The reality of the Afghan and Iraq war should have been much different. Destroy the enemy with as much violence on the ground as possible, declare victory, and go home. Bush was a disaster not only in the wars, but Justice Roberts was a total piece of crap. Obamacare should actually be called "Robertscare after Justice Roberts found a way to make the law work... yeah, he actually said that. We got Alito thank god, but that was only after a brutal backlash against Bush's decision to appoint his own liberal attorney Harriet Myers, a person Harry Reid couldn't say enough kind things about. Anyhow... enough ranting for now

Maybe you should hold off on those speeches for pay until the tax rates go down.

Is there anything more popular than free stuff?

We could move all the democrats to the border they make a great wall.

We need a big beautiful wall... and we have to get MS 13 the hell out of our country.

Keith Olbermann, Chuck E. Cheese Todd and Chuck E. Cheese Schumer

are getting together for a game of miniature golf.

Don't forget your spit wads.

I don't believe leaks and anonymous sources.

They might as well be lies and delusions.

What happened to evidence, proof and people testifying on the record?

We are all being drained by the swamp.

The media is being played by their own wishful thinking and their sources.

It's all about narrative-building now.  Facts are simply too boring.

I think Dimmowits are using the tactic of keeping something out there the way Republicans kept Benghazi alive even though there was no real smoking gun. They must feel that they were damaged by the cloud even though no one was impeached or driven from office. So, they went and built a cloud of their own that Trump is now somehow an agent of the Russian Government and those of us who voted for Trump are now communists and comrades. Its gonna take some time for me to get used to being called comrade by liberals who have espoused communist and socialist beliefs for as long as I can remember.

Was ISIS blowing up historic monuments?

They believe the rapture is nigh.  That they are about to force Trump from office.  Based on no evidence of wrongdoing whatsoever.

I wonder if the media is aware of how it is damaging itself. If this blows up in their faces, they won't be able to a seat at a Communist Party rally. I'm also concerned by the lack of investigation into the Democrats involvement with the Russians. Seems $500k speaking fee's, uranium deals, and foundation donation aren't getting any love. Not a peep from the media. If we are going to get to the bottom of it, let's look at all of it. The media is way too influential with partisan agendas, and no accountability.

It's already blown up in their faces, they just can't see, smell or feel it - the intellectual propafol they've been mainlining is too powerful.
