Well theres no doubt shes getting confirmed. The Dems have enough votes and she would probably get confirmed even if she sang the Soviet national anthem. At least this one can speak proper English, unlike justice 'wise Latina'

She's a weasel.  But then I'm being redundant.  This whole thing gives Kabuki a bad name.

on Jun 29, 2010

OT: Does anyone else think her last name sounds like a cult? Try it out for size in a few of these possible examples:

"Today three offices were wounded when they stormed the branch Kagen compound in Boston at 1225 this afternoon..."

"No thank you, my Kagan teachings do not allow we to eat any non-reproductive part of a cow during the summer solstice".

"This years annual Kagan festivities will begin with the traditional illegal alien dropping contraband down the chimney for later retrieval, followed by the ceremonial dancing on the national flag".

Sure I'm having a little fun with it, but it does have that ring to it.

she reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode where the old man makes his greedy relatives wear ugly masks till the end of the night and when they remove the masks their faces actually end up looking like that .

She can - why do you think Obama nominated her?  He cant carry a tune.

I do remember that episode too!  A very good one!

I hope and pray you are wrong.

I've already written to my two Senators urging them to vote NO.

Just from the info we already know about her at Harvard, she shouldn't even being sitting in that seat.

I agree with her not being confirmed but I think the language thing was a cheap shot. Let's not forget that there are plenty of Hispanics in the US that consider themselves Americans, love this country and are also Conservatives or Republicans and they don't speak proper English but at least they do speak English. I may not be in favor of Sotomayor, even though she is Puerto Rican like me, but I don't like her for her political beliefs, not her English with an accent.

Sorry Anthony, we normally agree often here, but I take offense to the idea that someone is not good for us simply because they don't speak proper English due to an accent. That's not what this country is about. English is English, accent or no accent.

You're the one with race issues , not me. You seem to be the one blinded by racial loyalties to demand a judge who speaks and interprets correct English. Clarence Thomas is my favorite justice so I clearly have no race issues.

Love the new avatar Anthony!   I can see KB's face now.

So where exactly am I asking for a judge who speaks and interprets English properly? Please point to that. Not sure where you get racial loyalties, I like people for who they are not what country they come from or the color of their skin. My issue is with the idea that Sotomayor is no good because of her accent. Not because she's Hispanic, I would have the same issue if she was Hindu, British, Australian or Arab and had an accent. I don't like the "wise Latina", her ideas of policies are somewhat disturbing to me.

Upon further thought, I think you might be right. I can see how that comment I made about 'speaking proper English' might be interpreted as being bigoted by those who don't know me. That's not the case though. Sotomayor is the one who brought it all up and made it fair game by claiming that her Latina opinion was superior to a bunch of pasty old white guys.

And she then claimed that only "Latinas" could understand her statement on the issue.  Which clearly makes her a bigot, as well as poorly worded and educated.

So will Obama praise Republicans for her conformation, since he blames them for obstructing the Democrat majority Congress? Obviously I'm not holding my breath.

You did not look blue to me.
