Microsoft need to get serious about making Operating systems in the future and needs to give me at least 1 good reason to switch from Win 7 which is the best Operating system I've used to something new. With Win 8 I have nothing but reasons NOT to switch. Get serious people.

Quoting RedneckDude, reply 387Kona, you're on a customization site. I can't believe you even typed that...lol. Nut.

If I recall correctly the forum is tied into other forums so technically that's not true.

But you posted from WinCustomize Forums. A customization site.

So, your logic is to stop using dreams? Ok, then we may as well uninstall DeskScapes. Hell, let's just get rid of all customization software and run Windows8 as the butt ugly OS that it is.

That way, Stardock can concentrate on gaming, shut down WinCustomize, and we can all go our merry way.

My answer to your question is, I want to use dreams.

Wizard1956
and for the rest of the world suffering with only one graphics card and/or one monitor? Well, it looks like several hundred dollars of additional equipment is needed to use this modern day wonder of an OS to its full potential.

Wiz, for the rest of the world Windows8 still handles the resources that you do have better. But if you don't have at least two monitors, forget multitasking.

Or don't use any of the modern UI apps, which all seem to be fullscreen.

I will still use 7 as my main OS for a while to come, but 8 has some uses. It may be more than just a toy after all.

I can say this, Stardock is making 8 easier to tolerate...lol.

Frogboy

I'm sorry you're not much of a customer anymore.

As to that, I suppose I was far more of one when you had Impulse so it's only natural.

Ah well

....and people 'bitched' about that at its launch too....

Savyg ....just a little logic here...

Since Frogboy has been 'proven right' re Vista's actual success....but someone on ZDNet was 'proven wrong' about similar predictions for XP  does not determine that Frogboy is going to be wrong about Win 8.

There's no connection.  I think Spock would be looking at you blankly...

I don't think Eds sources were at ZD, but they could be since he does occasionally take a swipe at them (and I can understand why, they're occasionally idiots.)

Also, I never said Frogboy is going to be proven wrong.  You might notice the words 'and you're probably right' in that post.  Right there.  Thanks for reading.

You were apparently attempting to negate findings re Vista by comparing flawed predictions surrounding XP, underminimg potential confidence [other than 'probably'] in current assertions that Win 8 is flawed.

Yes, I read quite well...

What I was actually implying is what you said about Impulse.  Very little is well received at launch in the software world.

I just liked it a lot more than XP since it didn't fall apart if you looked at it funny.
Well, maybe if you stopped looking at things "funny" you would get better results. My seven rig got screwed by IE10.  I can't say it was solely that but it and a MS update did a number on it........ Where am I? Oh, yeah, poor old unstable, unreliable, flakey as grandma's biscuits XP. Sorry guys as. ugly and old as XP may be, and I resemble that remark, it has never been unreliable, unstable or unpredictable.  Maybe it was your hardware, maybe it is my hardware.; Maybe you funny, maybe me funny,  Maybe, just maybe, you all wont have XP to kick around much longer. Just don't go bleeding all over me when new and modern goes all old fashioned fail on ya.

I am pretty sure I have said from 'day one' that Win 7 was the FIRST MS OS they actually got right.  It was/is certainly the first one that actually WORKED.

To date there has NOT been a second.

You very well might have, and I know I did, but it certainly had its naysayers.

Which is why it's noteworthy when I say I think 8 is a mistake.

Me was a good idea badly executed.

Vista was a good idea released uncooked.

8 is simply a bad idea.

on Mar 04, 2013

We can and will disagree on that til the end of time

I must sleeps.

on Mar 04, 2013

8 is simply a bad idea.

That is a matter of opinion.  I like Win 8 and have absolutely no trouble using it.   Admittedly, Start8 made it more usable.... to begin with, but now I find myself rarely using it.  Yes, there may be annoyances to some, but that is true of ALL OSes and there'll always be somebody who'll complain, justified or not.

Nothing new there... so I'll just carry on doing what I'm doing on what I'm doing it on.

RedneckDude

I run 4 monitors on 2 graphics cards. Using DeskScapes, running a different dream on each monitor, my system takes a performance loss if I'm in Win7. In Win8, not so much.

On 7, my cursor slows, things get draggy, the whole system suffers.

Win 8, running 4 different dreams, no change for the rest of my activity, meaning it's as if I was running 4 static walls.

I guess the things they say about Win 8 handling resources better is true. I am impressed.

As reasons to switch go it's not exactly a convincing one. I mean, those are pretty rare specs to say the least. I run 1 dream on 3 monitors with 1 card and have no issues.

How about we all agree that Apple OSX is better than Windows 8?
