keep your friends close but your enemies closer

I know my political predictions have been off lately, picking John McCan't and Mitt Romney, but I think I'm a bit more knowledgeable about football... that is why I am predicting a Baltimore Ravens victory by at least a touchdown. Kapernick the rookie might be great on the option play, but he has never faced a defense as ferocious as Baltimore. Where ever he throws, he has to look out for Ed Reed while having Suggs and Lewis breathing down his neck. Its not like the 49ers don't have a chance. If they can peel off a cheap 7 points on a special teams return then they have a chance.

I find it extremely ironic that the Ravens won by a cheap 7 points on a special teams return.

Yeah isn't that weird. I thought the 49ers might have a chance tp peel one off and the Ravens end up doing it. It would've been a blowout if not for the lights out incident stopping the Ravens momentum. I was surprised that on first and goal 4 attempts were made to pass into the end zone when Kapernick averages 8 yards a carry and Gore something like 5. I would have called 4 run plays trying to hammer it in. The 49ers actually had a chance at the end and blow it due to poor play calling.

It was much more likely the result of half-time adjustments than a momentum shift.  Not to mention the 2 Ravens players that were injured.

I've never seen a team with a more defeated and deflated looking sideline at the start of the second half... it changed during the blackout. The 49ers actually had a shot at winning and blew it with horrid play calls.

I missed the start of the second half, so that could be why I didn't know that.

Yeah isn't that weird.

What was weird was a 34 minute brown out.  That changed the momentum of the game.  You got the team right, but the score wrong.  However the inevitable "what-ifs" will always be played.  SF was going down until then, and almost pulled it off.

In my mind, there is no question the better team won Sunday night.  But then brown outs and missed calls are just facts of life.

On the missed calls, I'm not sure about the Crabtree endzone call. I mean Crabtree pushed off and was held a little too.. there was lots of contact and it looked like a good no call. Its also debatable whether or not Crabtree could have even caught it in bounds. I am sure that Flacco was hit late out of bounds and that wasn't called. At least no one on the Ravens sideline threw a tantrum. Jim Harbaugh reminded me of Obama with all his histrionics and bellyaching. Hes a big crybaby who blames everyone for problems but himself.

He pushed off only in order to get free, when the defender wrapped his arms around him.  And, it looked like 'oh he'd never catch that' because HE WAS BEING HELD.  He would have been an extra couple steps and would definitely be in a place to catch it.  Also, the defender was playing him, not the ball.

And SF got to the SuperBowl only because of a missed call against them in the NFC championship game.  As I said, they are a fact of life.  If SF was really the better team, it would not have come down to one call.

If the Ravens were really the better team, it would not have come down to one non-call.

We do not know if it did for them since they won.  The "non-call" was made with 1:45 to go.   Plenty of time to drive and kick a field goal - using a "what if".  They did win, so they are the better team (or were that day).

I don't think you can say that.  Correlation, not causation.
