keep your friends close but your enemies closer

What an election season. Democrats are hardly worth the time to write about anymore, but Republicans are proving to be even worse. They have now been exposed as career politicians with absolutely no loyalty to party, only to interests, and money. Need evidence? Look no further than "war hero" John McCain. Most people that I know were so sickened by the idea of him becoming the party nominee in 2008, that they refused to vote for him, but I, as a loyal Republican, held my nose and did the deed. How am I repaid by McCain? with a news conference to announce his intention to not support the Republican nominee, Donald Trump for President. In 2008, McCain embarrassed the Republican party severely by refusing to condemn the use of the racial slur, "gook," but now he is appalled, so appalled by the vulgarity of Donald Trump. Give me a break. Senator McCain has made his intentions perfectly clear as other Republicans have. He is more comfortable with Hillary because she has promised to keep feathering his nest as he has all these years. Same goes for Paul Ryan and all the other so called conservatives who were just punching bags for Obama the last 8 years. And we wondered why. Its because they all have the same interests. So that's it. 2016 was the year that Toto pulled the curtain. Its rigged, and ordinary people are fools to fight with one another believing otherwise to the delight of those who pull the puppet strings.

What astounds me is that there are actually sad, pathetic individuals who think 'Trump' is an answer to a question.

He's a sexist self-serving prick with an IQ barely into double digits and if there were ever an aptitude test for being a President beyond merely being filthy rich and US-born he'd fail on ALL other counts.

Oooh...I do LURVE the Politics Forum....

...not.

Jafo, I agree that Trump is abrasive and obnoxious, but I don't agree with the dumb part.   Some years back I liked his page on fb cause I always liked his shows and persona, I guess that makes me an evil sexist monster Its all like Schwarzenegger who was a beloved superstar until he decided to run against Democrats, then he was suddenly a serial groper and rapist! Millions of dollars are being spent to shape peoples opinions so its not surprising that Trump is starting to take a hit in reputation. Mother Theresa could be vilified and turned into a monster if similar efforts were taken against her.

There's absolutely no effort involved in demonstrating Trump is an arse unfit to hold any form of office, let alone that of Potus.

I wouldn't allow him to be 'lunch monitor' [if such a critter is even known in the US].

I lost the last of any potential respect for that creep when he described his daughter in terms of sex objectification.

Every day that slug is allowed to breathe is a blight on humanity.

Oh....did I mention he's also racist....in a country that [tries to] pride itself in its multiculturalism?

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Just no Muslims or Mexicans, and preferably nothing that's not quite white.......

The very thought that such a sub-human could get his finger on 'the' button.

I'm sure he'll just say...."Hey look....I've just fucked you ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Well, at least you're being reasonable about the election

If I were American [and thus could vote] I'd make a point of voting for anyone/anything OTHER THAN Trump.

Republican or Democrat...wouldn't matter who...as long as it wasn't Trump.

The fact Republicans are removing their endorsement of him is a fair indicator of his worth... but it does question 'what the hell were they thinking' endorsing him in the first place.  Surely the US political system isn't purely dependent on celebrity and/or money.

That's a particularly poor model.

I'd design a system around simple intelligence and competence with a sprinkling of reputation.

It's time to stop being mesmerized by whether his hair is real or not....chuck him in the trash and write off this election as a total cock-up.

As the Aussies would say..."Have another go, ya mug!" ...

I know nothing of Oz politics.

And wouldn't criticize Paul's countrymen if I did.

I would never vote for Trump.  But anyone supporting Hillary has no room to criticize Trump (not suggesting anyone here is).

Yep....arguably a case of lesser of 2 evils, .... though decision-wise....if the members of the Republican Party are leery of voting for their rep  you really have to wonder if it's all going to end up a 'no contest'....

I doubt I'm representative (could be, I suppose), but I'm fed up with all career politicians.  There isn't a gnat's fart's difference between the two parties.  What some call the 'respectable' GOP are nothing but Democrats in elephant suits.  I lean conservative and was a life-long Republican until McCain was nominated for pres.  Pox on both their houses and the voters who enable them.  The best these parties could manage to offer up is hopelessly corrupt Hillary and hopelessly childish Donald?  Someone please just shoot me now.

Hopefully you are representative...

There's clearly something wrong with the current system of 'creating' a Potus when the choice ends up between the two you're left with now.

There's 300 million people in the US.  Surely you can dig up a couple of candidates more competent....

....maybe that's the problem.....you'd actually have to dig them up....all the good ones are long gone...

Exactly what would be wrong with a one-man-one-vote election system where the 2 Parties propose candidates [plural] for Election and first one past the post wins?

They all spruik their proposals of what they claim they will do/stand for and it's put to one public vote.  Best 'man' wins.

In other words the Pres ends up being the most popular candidate....not the most conspired one.

I will have to vote for Trump and I'll tell you why. The Supreme Court. The next President will have one important task and that's it... appointing justices. Congress will be in gridlock and will be completely ineffective as they are now, so Trumps biggest power will be his influence on the courts. If I'm to take him at his word after being a lifelong Democrat and a friend of the Clinton's until recently, I will be happy to see any of the justices on the list he provided appointed to the court. Trumps boorishness and NY attitude is hardly any concern to me after that.

Oh, good.  He chooses some old farts to sit on a bench and pretend to rule humanity...while he nukes the planet into the stone age just because he can.

Sadly who does or does not become the 'leader' of just one country can have dire ramifications on the entire planet...

...not because that 'should be the case'....but because that 'IS the case'.

Anyone alive during the Cuban missile crisis is shit-scared of ever again being at 11.59 and 30 seconds.

Look it up.

And what's this scuttle-butt about Putin 'preferring' Trump?

I was planning to die of old age...not by some other country's voting ineptitude.

on Oct 13, 2016

Oh god Jafo, stop being so melodramatic No one will nuke the planet, grab everyones p***y, or have Muslims put in front of firing squads if Trump were to win. My guess is that Trump would remain bombastic, but behind closed doors he would be somewhat measured and restrained by Congress as any President would be at this point.

on Oct 13, 2016

Kind of restraint I'd be happy with is a straight jacket...

'Behind closed doors' he'd be given a puddle of drool to play with, and leave the running of the country to grown ups....

Still....no matter how bad reality gets there's always Tea Leoni and Keith Carradine to save us...
