keep your friends close but your enemies closer
Published on October 9, 2008 By Anthony R In Internet

Just recently, San Cho posted this Photoshop picture of Sarah Palin in a KKK uniform in the comment section of my blog.

-

I personally condemn the picture and I can't find any humor in it.  My question is simple. Does anyone else condemn this?

And who supports it? I have joked around with photoshop pictures before, but I have never put anyone in a Hitler or KKK uniform because that goes beyond being a joke and crosses over into the realms of full blown hate speech.

starkers ...

You verbalized your thought...that's why you got pinged....

There are lots of 'restrictions' of/for/to what is referred to as 'free speech'.  The Telecommunications Act prohibits the communication of obscene language.  As a Communications/Observer for the FIA/FIM [GrandsPrix] I'm aware that 'legally' I cannot say to Race Control 'that driver is a fucking twit' I'd be in breach of the act.  AND the same applies to a telephone conversation between you and your mate...

The right to hold a 'free opinion' contrary to the socially accepted means anyone/everyone can actually be racist [in mindset] but vocalize it and you're screwed, either by legislation or perhaps just by peer pressure...

Um, not really... I just used an old joke to make a point... that when you quietly think something to yourself it is private, that it is an entirely different kettle of fish when you make those thoughts public... like the effwit who hung the effigy of Sarah Palin in his yard.   Sure he had every right to think it privately, but he made it public and there are consequences/repercussions as a result of his action.  There are plenty of people (myself included) who dislike Sarah Palin but still would consider the act pretty low, distasteful and condoning violence/lynching (myself included), while others would think it funny and condone it,

It is a thought made public that has the potential  to cause rifts within communities, families, between friends.... particularly during the 'mad' period prior to US elections.

You meant Unity, I believe.

I meant freedom....

we're divided into special interest groups that clamours for freedom to do what we like..and expect the government to deliver....and it does and in doing so, we lose freedom.

As an example, take the pro-abortion crowd who clamour for abortion on demand...(when an abortion occurs, the baby in the womb lose his freedom to be born.)

Take the Christian religion and so called separation of Church and State....why should a person of religious faith be forced to give up his freedom of conscience and be forced to pay (through taxation) for things like education, medical practices, and same sex health benefits, etc, that violate their moral principles and conscience?

Ok , they can stop paying taxes. They don't need police , fire , anything like that... Let God protect them, It's God's will , isn;t it?

Yeah. Taxes just aren't just for "corrupting" stuff, it pays for stuff everyones uses, like police and roads. Everything does have good and bad aspects, and I DO mean everything...

RE: Skinning...While it's certainly made Brad Wardell a very wealthy man, I cannot imagine a more useless activity to spend your days on, but hey, whatever floats your boat. I don't know of ANYONE on EITHER side of the wonderful world of Stardock who actually LIKES this crossposting, but as someone already mentioned, complaints fall on deaf ears, so deal with it....mmk?--me

I never ever thought I would read that type of comment on this site ever.--unclerob

'This' site?  In case you haven't figured it out yet, you're not on WINCUSTOMIZE here, you're on JoeUser...a BLOG site.

And apparently, Brad did take note of the complaints because he's once again limited what sorts of things get cross-posted.  Thank you, Mr. Wardell.

RE: The hanging of Sarah Palin in effigy....if I did something similar with a mock-up of Obama...my house would be surrounded by feds in a heartbeat.

Freedom of speech isn't as free as you think.  Trust me, I know.  Been there, done that, paid dearly for it.

What's this about?  That's news to me, I thought I was on the WC forums?!

Can anyone please clue me in on this, seriously am I on the WC forums or JoeUser???

Palin will just sit there and read her precious talking points when assholes shout 'kill the nigger' at her rallys.

That has been disproven by analysis of the supposed statement by forensics.

unclerob, this is a Joe User post which bled into (cross posted) WinCustomize Forums. How to tell? Damned if I know!

When you run into a Mod or Admin, ask. I couldn't explain the logic of why it happens, either.

Ah, but forensics aren't always reliable and, on occasion, have been proven wrong.  Why even Sarah Palin herself proves them wrong.  Initial forensic tests say that she is a woman, but she has gone about trying to prove to everyone she has the balls to mix it with the best of them in Washington.... and independent forensic testing concluded that she is also part Eskimo, part moose, part polar bear and is more likely to cause yellow snow than any of the above alone.

SOME of them . Just like SOME ( a small number, actually ONE ) people hang Palin in effigy . There are assholes on both sides , sir. However the big difference is how the respective supporters handle it.

Haven't been called 'sir' since my Navy days, so thanks for that.   However, the randomly recorded behavior of the fringe is ugly on both sides, always has been.  It's more about how 'organized' supporters 'handle it' - there is nothing anywhere even close to the hatred & spew of Daily Kos or Democratic Underground.  I know of no 'right-wing' equivalent.  It was John McCain himself who came to Obama's defense when an intemperate remark was made at one of his townhalls.  I'd love to hear that Obama repudiates intemperate remarks at his rallys.  Oh, wait... that would mean he'd have to repudiate his own remarks (e.g., re: bitter Pennsylvanians clinging to their guns & religion), so nevermind.

Some categories cross post between various Stardock sites, in this case, the Internet forum.

You may have gathered, however, that this is not about 'Internet' and is about 'Politics'. The OP placed his post in the wrong category...

When people see these kinds of topics, they should either ignore, or take part. What they should not do is make negative comments, all that does is harm the integrity of the site from which they are posting

I wish she had some wolf in her as well! Now where are those planes!?

This will be my last post in this thread , because there are some on both sides who I am losing respect for due to some stupid comments. My reply to you is remind you there is this little website called Google. I understand if you haven't heard of it before, hidden amongst the rest of the Liberal Internet http://www.google.com/search?q=right-wing+blogs&rls=com.microsoft:*:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7SUNA

Always the arrogant, dismissive condescension - happens without fail.  When they can no longer defend or argue the facts, they shoot ya the bird.

Adios, my friend... don't think I'll miss you.

Oh, and thanks for the link.  There's some good stuff there I'd never seen before.

Palin has been stuffed by the Canadians - what an embarrassment...
